Gigs to remember

Great gigs can make moments you'll never forget. They may be the sole reason for your city stay or an unexpected bonus.

The best kind of arrival

Sheffield has a legendary beer scene and, conveniently, the city's main railway station is the perfect place to start some beery exploration. The Sheffield Tap is a microbrewery and pub based on Platform 1, ready and waiting the moment you step off the train.

Housed within the former Edwardian Refreshment Rooms of Sheffield Station, the original art deco interior has been lovingly restored, creating a grand backdrop to enjoy a pint. If you choose to sample one of their house Tapped Brew Co. beers, you'll be sat right next to where it was brewed too.

It's certainly a fitting gateway into one of the craft beer capitals of the world!

'The UK's foodie hotspot'

So says The Observer Food Monthly, and we're not going to argue with that. Passionate producers and local enthusiasm have really helped nurture a thriving independent scene in Sheffield, one you should be hungry to delve into.

From the best brunches and street food on the go to fine dining, you can find quality places to eat and drink in all corners of the city. But, it’s in some of Sheffield’s vibrant suburbs where friendly neighbourhood bistros have really been winning over locals and national food critics alike… allow us to introduce you to them.

Home-grown festivals

Festivals are the ultimate escape for music lovers, because why watch just one gig when you can spend a whole weekend seeing a plethora of bands, artists, DJs and more.

It's no surprise then, with music heritage as strong as ours, that Sheffield has plenty of home-grown festivals to choose from. From multi-venue festivals like Get Together, No Bounds and Float Along to the city’s summer outdoor extravaganza Tramlines, there’s something to suit all tastes.

Street art

If you like a little cultural exploration when visiting a new place, Sheffield has some fantastic free galleries, plus you'll find street art all over the city, but we've also got the augmented reality rooftop kind too, in the form of Look Up.

The world's first permanent, augmented reality art exhibition Look Up transforms the city's buildings with unique virtual creations. It's completely FREE to see, you just have to download the app and let the map guide you to one of the outdoor locations. If you like what you see, you can also capture photos and videos from within the app to share on your social.

Unique outdoor markets

We're known as The Outdoor City, mainly because of our incredible access to greenspace - but we bring that ethos into the city centre too. Pollen Market set up in 2021 on the amazing Grey to Green regeneration area in Castlegate, a short walk from the train station. It's now a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, showcasing the best of independent retailers specialising in all things floral - with food, drink and music all mixed in.
