A fresh perspective

A change of scenery in Sheffield

We're the UK's greenest city, packed full of culture and vibrancy, with a famously friendly welcome, slap-bang in the middle of the UK which makes us an ideal place to bring people together, especially if your delegates and/or workforce are spread across the country.

So whether you're looking for a location with a bit of a difference for your next business event or national conference, somewhere to give the team a break from online meetings - or you’re already heading here or nearby and want to tack on a weekend away - then look no further.

When you need some fresh air for blue sky thinking or just a little headspace, you’re never far from some great places to unwind. And, if you really want to make the most of your down-time, be sure to explore our fantastic food scene and vibrant heritage and culture too… it might just make you want to stay longer.

An abundance of green space

Sheffield is the 4th biggest city in the country and yet we have a whopping 61% greenspace, more trees per person than any other city in Europe and a 1/3 of the city is actually inside the Peak District National Park, so yep, that's probably the main reason we're The Outdoor City.

But it also means that it's really easy to have a morning jog or walk from the city centre out to one of our many parks, woodlands and wild spaces. And if you maybe feel like being a little more adventurous, you can take advantage of our wold-class climbing facilities (both indoor and outdoor), be a ParkRun tourist or hit some of renowned mountain biking trails, including the only inner city trail in the UK.

Find your spot

If you need a space to do some work while you're away, then you'll need a spot where you can focus, but where the coffee is top notch too, like South Street Kitchen in the famous Park Hill development.

Likewise, if you do your best business over breakfast/brunch/lunch or need a timeout for your team, you'll want an inspiring menu to impress your colleagues with plenty of choice for everyone attending.

Luckily there's no short supply of great spots across Sheffield, and being the friendly city that we are, you'll always receive a warm welcome.

Make your mark

For bigger business events and conferences, Sheffield has a strong portfolio of iconic venues and a relatively small city footprint, so there's not far to walk if you need a multi-venue layout.

The Crucible Theatre is just one example, that has become part and parcel of some of our most well known events - like DocFest, one of the biggest international documentary film festivals that attracts delegates from all over the world.

But if you don't know were to begin, our Conference Sheffield team are on hand to help you every step of the way, offering a free service to support business event organisers of all kinds.

Conference Sheffield

A place to invest

There's a suitable saying about Sheffield: it's big enough to get lost in, but small enough to feel like you can make a difference.

A lot of the businesses in this city have complementary qualities and specialisms - digital and tech companies like Razor started out focussing in advanced manufacturing, but have diversified to multiple sectors because their skill sets lend themselves well to other needs.

If you're setting up or growing a business then you should be paying us a visit and having a chat with our Business or Invest teams about how they can help.
