Quarries, Mills, Crags and Cannonballs


This walk will take you through woodland to Fox Valley, up to Hunshelf and along old ways to Green Moor. We descend over the River Don to Huthwaite and Wortley Top Forge, past Chemistry Cottages and through pastures to Wharncliffe Crags Nature Reserve to return to the start.

Walk length:  10 miles (16.5km)

Start: Station Road,Wortley Rd junction with Vaughton Hill, Deepcar, Sheffield
Finish: at start

Travel: Tram to Middlewood then SL1 bus to Deepcar or 10.02 bus 57 from Pond Street Interchange. Walk down Wortley Road from traffic lights and meet at junction with Station Road

Parking: at start

Terrain: Moderate hillsides and some stiles
