Adder emergence amble

About

A stroll on Big Moor taking in the sights and sounds of spring, including adders as they emerge from hibernation.

Morning walk: 10.00am-12.00pm
Afternoon walk: 1.00pm-3.00pm

Spring is a time of change on the moors, with animals become more active as the days get longer and warmer. One resident taking advantage of the sunshine is the adder, Britians only native venomous snake which while rare nationally, we are working to conserve on the Eastern Moors.

Our wardens will guide you in the best way to view this amazing but incredibly sensitive species its natural habitat, without disrupting the adders as they prepare for the year ahead. Find out why it is so important to protect these secretive reptiles and their habitat.

Not suitable for photographers.

What to bring with you
Please come dressed appropriately for the weather, in warm clothes and waterproofs with spare layers in a bag with suncream or a woolly hat as necessary. Good, sturdy, waterproof boots with a deep tread and ankle support are recommended. No food or drink is provided, but if you wish you may bring your own.
We will have some pairs of binoculars to share but you may wish to bring your own.
