Yugen Explore is a travel/outdoor brand created to inspire more people to travel and go on adventures. We offer a community and lifestyle based around adventure and always have the customer in mind with product quality, customer service and engaging content. One of our main focus’ at Yugen is to be an ethical and sustainable brand. I am extremely passionate about the environment and so we encourage people to buy reusable products such as water bottles, canvas bags and sporks. We offer products that are built to last and encourage people to buy products that they love and will keep for years to come. For example our travel adapter can be used worldwide with 2 USB ports and comes with a zip case. This means it will be protected and you will look after it… as opposed to buying one form the pound shop and leaving it in the hostel! Sustainable purchasing is important and we also try to reduce plastic packaging and waste as much as we can. We are now working with the Plant a Tree Foundation to encourage people to offset their travel and help to plant more trees.
After returning from living in Australia, I decided that because I can’t travel all the time I need to travel in my own country and make the most of my life. Whilst in Aus I would always join meet-ups to meet new people, so promised myself I would continue this upon returning to the UK. This applies to everyone but I know people that travel really struggle to adjust back into ‘normal’ life and speaking from experience find it really difficult, boring and struggle with mental health as you’re always waiting for the next adventure not enjoying the now.
So, Last year we started hosting free hiking meet-ups to get more people outdoors for mental health and well-being and to connect our followers. I’ve found that the main reasons people don’t go out hiking is because they don’t know where to go and they have no one to go with, so we wanted to help. We had an adventure weekend in Scotland where around 50 people attended, then in March we had a hike in the Peak District where 88 people joined. Following that we have started working with YHA and hosted a meetup adventure weekend in the Lake District and one in Wales at their Snowdon hostel. I am based near the Peaks and so most of my hiking and meetups are done there, I have one coming up in December as well in Castleton. I ahve more events planned for in the Peak District and we will be working with SHAFF in March. If you'd like to see more of what we do and why we do the meet-ups please feel free to check these videos out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNpojJF937w&t=3s
