Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon

A major event in the UK's running calendar, the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon- Sheffield will this year take place on Sunday 9 April 2017. The event attracts thousands of runners of all abilities and spectators to the city's streets and raises many thousands of pounds for good causes.

If you don’t think you can run the whole distance but want to see the route’s beauty with your own eyes, fear not; there are plenty of participants who walk parts of it. Plus runners of all different speeds and ages attend – the event even has children’s runs and a team challenge. There really is something for everyone.

The route starts on Arundel Gate and finishes outside the Town Hall on Pinstone Street, and is a good mix of steep climbs, urban roads and country lanes. You'll run into the hills above Sheffield, where you'll be treated to spectacular views of the Peak District, before returning to the city centre.

For those who are addicted to Strava or are extra competitive, there is a triple challenge giving you the chance to be crowned King of the Hill in a timed hill climb, to triumph in a largely downhill 10k sprint section, and to cross the finish line first to lift the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield title.

Children eager to take part in the fun can get involved by signing up for the event’s mini and junior runs, which are free to enter. The mini course covers a distance of 1.5k and is for children aged 3-8, while the 2.5k junior run is for youngsters aged 9-14.
