Weekender Fringe: Trail Advantage Mountain Bike Skills Coaching

Join Trail Advantage on Sunday 11 March for a mountain bike skills course aimed to improve the confidence and skills of new and intermediate riders.

If you are new to mountain biking and inspired to explore what The Outdoor City has to offer, then this course is a great introduction to developing core skills to make you a more confident rider.

Run by qualified British Cycling MTB coach, Adam Simmonite, Trail Advantage have been coaching mountain bike skills in Sheffield and the Peaks for several years now and Adam is a passionate ambassador of The Outdoor City, saying "I am proud to have such amazing riding on my doorstep. Over the years it’s been great to see more people getting inspired and out on their bikes."

The 2 hour course will cover bike set up, body position, braking, reading the trail and cornering. The location will be Houndkirk Moor, complete with its amazing views over Sheffield, this pathway to the Peaks is a great location for riders to develop their skills and then put them into action. The session will include a run down the new Cooking on Gas Trail at Lady Cannings, built by Biketrack.org and Ride Sheffield.

Trail Advantage are donating half the course fees to Ride Sheffield to help maintain MTB trails in city such as the ones you'll be using on the day .

There will be two opportunities to take part in the 2 hour course, with both an AM and a PM session running on the day. The sessions are limited to 8 riders per session, making for a more relaxed coaching environment.

Course attendees must be over the age of 18 and bring their own trail worthy mountain bike. Please note the course is not suitable for hybrid or Cyclo Cross bikes.

Trail Advantage's Mountain Bike Coaching session is part of a Fringe programme of activity take place in conjunction with The Outdoor City Weekender 9 - 11 March.



AM session 10am - 12pm
PM session 1pm - 3pm

Date: Sunday 11 March
Location: Meet at The Norfolk Arms pub car park on Ringinglow Road. The session will then take place on Houndkirk Moor and at Lady Cannings plantation.
Price: £20 per person (£10 from each place goes to the Ride Sheffield Trail Fund)
