Ever wish you could make more time for exercise in your life? Want to start off with something gentle and accessible?
Step Out Sheffield runs a varied programme of walks for health, all across the city. Walks are fun, free and take place all year round - even during the school holidays. Walking for health is a great way to meet people, reduce stress and get fit.
The largest volunteer led group in the entire national Ramblers Walking For Health scheme, Step Out Sheffield is run by a community of over 140 dedicated, friendly volunteers who help new walkers to get started.
Together they run 57 walks at 26 locations across the city, with over 1000 attendances to the sessions- EVERY week! In fact, the Sheffield walking scheme has been so successful that it won an Innovation Award from The Ramblers Association in 2017.
Walks range in duration from half an hour to a full hour, follow an easy pace, and include time for rests. They’re ideal for people new to exercise or just beginning to get active again after recovering from surgery or illness. Whether it's a simple stroll round Handsworth or a saunter through Ecclesall Woods, there's so many to choose from you'll be spoilt for choice- have a look at the walks you can do here.
And the walk programme just keeps growing! From Monday 4 June 2018, the latest addition will see a new walk taking place around Bolehills Recreation Ground in Crookes- starting 10.30am from the temporary pavilion.
Due to demand, Step Out Sheffield are always on the lookout for new volunteer walk leaders and provide training for anyone interested. You can get in touch via the contact information below, or better still, why not come along to a walk and chat to one of the current walk leaders.
So what are you waiting for? Whether you'd like to get walking or get involved as a volunteer walk leader, for more information please get in touch with Step Out Sheffield.
